While healthcare is not mandated or otherwise recognized by the U.S. Constitution as a right, Americans nevertheless consider healthcare to be so important that they nevertheless now consider it to be a fundamental right. This prompted the movement for a complete government takeover of our healthcare system. The first attempt at that concept was The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (commonly referred to as “Obamacare”). The resulting enactment of that law gave us a government sanctioned insurance monopoly that has evolved into a system of runaway premiums, excessive deductibles and a rising uninsured population. This transformation has also lead to health insurance that fails to match an individual’s needs, loss of personal choice of a doctor, interference in medical decisions, surprise billing, coercive penalties, and unequal treatment of uninsured individuals with respect to the cost of identical treatment/care from the same doctor and/or facility.
